“MECC Maastricht takes you to another level”

The Maastricht Exhibition & Congress Centre (MECC Maastricht) is very proud to support the Maastricht bid for the MPI Professional Education Conference 2009. We feel that together with the strong meeting community in the city of Maastricht, the professionalism of the MPI NL Chapter and the Netherlands Board of Tourism & Conventions, we can put together a conference that truely refreshes your view and “takes you to another level”.

The MECC Maastricht is part of the RAI Group Amsterdam and is famous for having one of the worlds “best purpose buildings”. The combination of our flexible meeting facilities and the intimacy of the city of Maastricht have proven to be excellent succes factors for international conferences. During your stay in Maastricht you can be assured of a high networking opportunity, whether it is in the open atmosphere of our fully renovated congress centre or in one of the many bars and restaurants of the historic, intimate and gastronomic city centre.

We sincerely look forward to refresh your view on our conference centre and on the full support our city has to offer our meeting colleagues. We can assure you that MECC Maastricht will offer the best facilities to host the MPI 2009 and to organize a succesful international congres.

Netherlands Board of Tourism & Conventions to join Maastricht bid

Re: MPI PEC 2009

Dear Mrs. Dogniez,

The Netherlands Board of Tourism & Conventions is pleased in extending a most cordial invitation to hold the MPI Professional Education Conference in 2009 in Maastricht, the Netherlands.

The Netherlands Board of Tourism & Conventions, both through its staff of professionals and its supporting organisations, stands ready to help make your congress the most memorable to date.

It is with great pleasure and excitement that we present our candidature for 2009 at this time. It coincides with the introduction of our new marketing strategy named ‘A Fresh Dutch View’ and offers a new look on Holland as a business destination. MPI PEC 2009 will offer its delegates a first experience on our new campaign.

We are confident that the ‘Destination Holland’ and the beautiful city of Maastricht will measure up to your most demanding expectations as a congress site and we sincerely hope that you will grant our country the privilege of hosting MPI PEC in the year 2009.

Yours Sincerely,
Renée Cohen
Director of Destination Sales

Letter from the Queen's Commissionner

Dear Ms Dogniez,

The Province of Limburg has learned that the MPI Professional Education Conference may possibly be held in Maastricht in 2009.

The year 2009 is not as far away as one might think, and a decision on its venues has to be made in the very near future. Undoubtedly, there will be other cities in Europe vying to hold such a prestigious event and to greet the distinguished delegates. Nonetheless, in order to host a conference of this size and importance efficiently and with style, a city must have convention facilities of the highest possible standard and the services must be based on long and sound experience.

I do not think I am exaggerating if I say that Maastricht and the region complies with these conditions in every respect. The city is located in the vicinity of several airports. The city’s largest convention centre - The MECC - has the staff and the facilities to meet all demands of successful international conferences, as it has shown in the past when meetings of the European Council, African Heads of State and NATO were organized. Hotel accommodation in all price categories is excellent and all situated in the city itself.

During the last decades, Maastricht has built up an excellent tradition in which all parties involved (hotels, convention centre, tourist board and authorities) cooperate exemplary. The geographical position and its rich history – many different European cultures left their remains here – situate Maastricht in the heart of a region where three countries, languages and cultures litterally grade.

It is not surprising that in this city, where Europe for citizens and institutions has become a day-to-day reality, a large number of European institutions for education and research have settled. Due to the multilingualism of the inhabitants many international companies have established here their international operating call centres.

I really think Maastricht offers an ideal location for the 2009 MPI Professional Education Conference and it goes without saying that you may count on the full support of our officials if you need any further assistance or information.

Yours faithfully,

L.J.P.M. Frissen

Maastricht Convention Bureau will lead the way

Dear mrs. Dogniez,

The Maastricht Convention Bureau strongly supports the MECC Maastricht initiative to host the Meeting Professional International 2009 Professional Education Conference Europe in Maastricht. It will give your members the utmost chance to refresh their view…..

Maastricht is the worlds 16th destination for conventions (UIA). However Maastricht is only a small city, a population of only 120.000. We do not have an Eiffel Tower, we do not have a metro. What does make this city remarkable? Why do so many convention, meeting and event organizers choose Maastricht as their destination. It is because this oldest city of the Netherlands just simply makes your event more successful. The city has all it needs to refresh the participants view… Inspire them, thinking out of the box, absorbing new ideas, learn! In the end leaving fully re-energized, ready to perform and be successful.

Maastricht vibrant history and its situation at a crossroad of European cultures, languages and trade routes gave it an unique charm and international flavor. Dutch visitors to our city find Maastricht ‘un-Dutch’, like being abroad. This while foreign visitors tend to feel perfectly at home in its international atmosphere.

Nestling where the borders of the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany meet, Maastricht is undoubted beneficiary to the European integration Process. The city and the MECC Maastricht have hosted many top international conferences, the most notable of which culminated in the signing of the Maastricht treaty in 1992. Co-operation with the neighbouring parts of Belgium and Germany has reinforced the city international image.

The scenery the city offers you is that of one with a historical convenient and small inner city, the oldest of the Netherlands, tranquility in churches, design hotels, squares, top restaurants and shops. Traffic jams, participants who will meet in a inspiring environment during the day and in the evening. All together in a stunning beautiful surrounding, leaving your thoughts elsewhere, refreshing your view…

Maastricht will make your 2009 Professional Education Conference Europe successful! The Maastricht Convention Bureau is more than willing to support MPI Europe and the city of Maastricht in the organization of the 2009 PEC Europe Conference.

Yours sincerely,
Maastricht Convention Bureau

Since 2001 I am a proud member of MPI and had the pleasure to participate in different MPI-PEC’s in Europe. Every time it was not only the content of the workshops or the network opportunities that made a PEC a great success, but also the city where it took place. A memory of city stays with you for the rest of your life…..

Maastricht should stay in people’s mind….. Not only because we are the oldest city of The Netherlands with old historic buildings in contrast with contemporary art and design. Not only because we are compact, centralized between 3 countries and easy to reach. And certainly not only because we are known as the culinary heart of The Netherlands where quality of life is high.
Maastricht is in the heart of Europe, but wishes also to be in the heart of its visitors…

I work for a hotel chain which offers historic buildings, converted in luxury hotels and (Michelin Star-) restaurants.
In the past years we had the pleasure to welcome the NATO-Top, European conferences, members of Royal families, the American President, Secretary of State of the US and many more special guests who all enjoyed the professional service and friendliness of the people here.

Maastricht goes beyond your expectations…..

I look forward to participate the conference in my own town in 2009!

Experience Maastircht in 2009; experience The Extraordinary !

We support the bid of Maastricht for the 2009 MPI PEC Europe Conference, because we believe in the center function of Maastricht and the attraction this ancient city has for many Europeans. Since over 2000 years people are crossing the river Meuse here and now, 2000 years after the Romans built the first bridge, we would like to invite you to cross the river with us and enjoy all the good things this magnificent region has to offer. Maastricht is the oldest city of the Netherlands, but there is a second Maastricht that we would like to show you. A Maastricht below the surface...underground. Maastricht is built on limestone, a sediment that was formed here some 90 million years ago. Maastricht is known for its vast underground spaces that were left behind after miners quarried buildingstone from the bedrock. These "caves" are worldfamous and one can not leave Maastricht without having visited them so, we will not let you! We will host the closing night of the congress at our unique venue "La Caverne de Geulhem" ( http://www.caverne.nl/ ), an international up to date party and congress site built into an ancient quarry system, all function rooms are fully floor heated and situated 30 meters underground. We will make sure you will experience a breath taking night in the heart of the Maastricht hills. Gastronomic dishes, wines of the best and a warm hospitality for which the Limburg region is known, will make your last night with us one to remember. Visit Maastricht in 2009; The Maastricht promise: Education combined with sufficient relaxation: Experience the art of fine living and enjoy moments you will cherish !
